Description: What About Me? 12 Ways to Get Your Parents' Attention (Without Hitting Your Sister) was inspired by author Eileen Kennedy-Moore's own family, with four children born within eight years, and illustrator Mits Katayama's memories of his three children. "To keep my frisky 4-year-old son from hitting his sisters, I gave him a stack of index cards that showed many different nice ways of getting my attention," says Dr. Kennedy-Moore, explaining how What About Me? was conceived. "He loved all the strategies and I loved how much this helped our family life." That stack of index cards developed into a gentle story about a little boy who feels ignored but learns that being helpful and kind rewards him with loving attention from his parents. Dr. Kennedy-Moore's lyrical text is paired with Katayama's exquisitely detailed water color illustrations for a book that's sure to be a family favorite. |
